Hurry Up and Wait

We got unloaded last night very quickly. The place wasn’t hard to get into and they unloaded it right away. I put in the empty call and have been waiting now 8 hours for a load. We are stuck at a little Pilot Truck Stop right by the distribution center where we unloaded. Albany NY is not an easy area to get around in a big truck. Until I get a load I never know which direction to go so I will sit here and hope to get something soon.

I have now been on my own for only 1 ½ weeks. This is a hard job. I expect it to get a little easier as I learn what I am doing. I haven’t been sleeping well with the irregular hours. This job leaves you waiting for a load and then they rush you when you get it. Also I have been getting loads of 500 and 600 hundred miles. By the time you drop one load and then pick up the next half of the day is gone and you have 500 miles to drive to deliver the next morning. It makes it a long hard day. Logging so that you have the available time takes some creativity.
